#sponsored On Monday @nickrlake, @clumsysloth and I packed our bags after a stunning sunrise over St. Mary Lake and hit the trail to Grinnell Lake. The trail begins in the forest, then winds its way through wildflower-covered slopes, currently bursting with flowers. The higher you climb, the more you’re rewarded with views of Josephine Lake, Lower Grinnell Lake, and the stunning peaks behind them. I could have happily sat at one of the many viewpoints all day, watching the flowers dance in the wind against the turquoise backdrop of the water. It definitely goes down as one of the prettiest hikes I’ve done and I want to go back! What hikes are your favorites? Bonus points for anything on the East Side of Glacier National Park! @visitmontana #montanamoment

I’m generally terrible at picking favorites, but Montana has carved out a space in my heart as big as its famous skies. Yesterday morning we watched the sun rise over St. Mary’s Lake, then hiked into the heart of Glacier National Park, surrounded by towering peaks and vibrant wildflowers. It was the stuff of dreams and I hope you get to experience it someday! @visitmontana #montanamoment #sponsored

#sponsored I wish I had a magical device that could take me back to yesterdays bike ride to Logan Pass on the Going-To-The-Sun road. It will live on in my memory as one of the best days I’ve spent outside, and I have been outside a lot. The ride began in the thick forest with a sighting of a black bear mama and her cub, ambling along the river in a quest for food. We gave her time and space, then carried on when it was safe. The road eventually climbed out of the trees, revealing stunning peak after stunning peak. The light and rain danced between them, treating us to an incredible show. We finally gained Logan Pass, our faces stuck in permanent grins while our quads burned. We snacked, took in the views, and rode off into the sunset, whooping the whole way down. It was phenomenal in every way and I’m so grateful to @visitmontana for the experience! If you ever have the opportunity to go, seize it! You won’t regret it. #montanamoment

#sponsored I’m back in Montana and it feels so good! @nickrlake and I spent our first day exploring the area outside of Kalispell and were rewarded with sightings of baby bison, bountiful wildflowers, elk, birds galore and a gorgeous sunset at Ninepipes National Wilderness Refuge (swipe right for the full pano). I can’t wait to share the rest of our adventure; it’s going to be an amazing week! Have you been to this part of Montana? Leave a comment with your favorite places to eat, sleep, and play! @visitmontana #montanamoment #discoverkalispell

This morning I had a chat with someone I adore about love and fear. Sometimes, the world calls us to do big, scary things. Sometimes, those things are so far out of the worldview of the people who love us that they react with fear. Instead of telling us to follow our intuition, they ask us to play small so we fit inside their understanding of the world. But as Marianne Williamson famously said, playing small serves no one. When we spend all of our time and energy trying to contort ourselves into pleasing shapes for someone else, we don’t grow. Those shapes may be cast in a vision of love but that doesn’t mean it’s the love you need. If I can offer one piece of advice to you today, it’s this: find the love you need.

I’m a type-A kind of human (an ENTJ and Enneagram type 8 if that means anything to you), which comes as no surprise to anyone who’s spent time with me. Couple my natural tendencies with the remnants of traumatic experiences I’ve survived and you get an intense need for control that doesn’t lend itself to sinking gracefully into the unknown. But I’ve been trying to cultivate a sense of patience and ease with the unpredictability of life and there’s been no better teacher on that journey than the mountains. It doesn’t matter how meticulously I prepare, the mountains shut down the best laid of plans, seemingly without rhyme or reason. I’ve had to learn that that’s okay. As glorious as it is to stand on the summit, there’s so much magic in the in-between. A shared snack on the trail. A spontaneous dance party that has music and laughter flowing through your body. The taste of wild blueberries on your tongue. An explosion of stars across the sky as a crescent moon rises. These are things that are easily overlooked in the mad quest for the summit and I want to revel in every single one. What about you?

Sometimes you just need a little art therapy in the fresh mountain air! So stoked to get outside with @drawntohighplaces and Dolores, the latest addition to the Young/Fineman household! Dolores is a beauty of a van, just waiting to be turned into our home away from home with a little help from our friends at @dometic and some blood, sweat, and tears! I can’t wait to learn some new skills (please send me your favorite #vanlife accounts, tips, tricks, and hacks) and share our new adventure. #notsponsoredimjustahugefanP.s. huge shoutout to everyone and everything that’s enabling this fun new adventure. We are super privileged to take this project on and couldn’t do it without the help and support of family and friends.

Sometimes, we lose pieces of ourselves. Sometimes, we plant them. Lately, I’ve been doing more of the latter—cultivating all sorts of friends and ideas with deliberate intention. I can’t wait to see what kind of strange, wonderful garden grows. What are you cultivating these days? Photo from a gorgeous sunset at Machupuchare Base Camp on the way to Annapurna Base Camp.

This photo was edited on a refurbished tablet from @back_market. Responsible consumerism includes our electronics too! At some point we’ve all felt the pressure to upgrade and get the latest, sexiest version of what we already have when a new device comes out. But keeping up with the trends comes at a pretty high cost—49.3 million tons of toxic electronic waste are produced globally every year. That number is growing exponentially, polluting our land and water. That’s why I’m excited to partner with @back_market, recently named one of Fast Company’s most innovative companies of 2019, to let people know that there’s now a safe and easy way to buy refurbished devices in the US! Hold on to your electronics for as long as you can, and when it’s time to replace them #gorefurbished and show the planet some love. #madeonrefurbished #backmarket_partner #ad

#ad Hitting the trail with Brittany, Nicole, and Annabel the Pup was just what I needed after several days spent cooped up inside. The rain was falling but we didn’t mind, hopping through puddles and tiny streams in our lightweight, quick drying Ascender shorts and Trekkie Hybrid crops from the @Athleta Hike line! Made of recycled materials, they incorporate thoughtful details like stash pockets for snacks and phones so you can disconnect and be present with the people and things that matter most. After all, that’s the #powerofshe
