FUN FOOD STORY! So I went to visit my friend @photographyamandabarker last week at her new home in Cheyenne. We stopped at the Senator Steakhouse @terrybisonranch for lunch. I was mighty hungry, so I couldn’t pass up the bison burger with tumbleweed onions and sweet potato fries with caramel dipping sauce. I mean, come on: CARAMEL DIPPING SAUCE! 🤤When our server asked how I wanted the bison done, I asked for rare, because why would you not want rare meat unless you’re a crazy person, right? Well he literally got a panicked look on his face and laughed nervously... then told me I was the FIRST person to ever order a rare bison burger there! 🤣🤣🤣 It came out much closer to well done, but I didn’t mind. I love a good bison burger! All that and more is up on the blog today for “What to Eat in Cheyenne!” Check it out and tell me how you like your burgers!🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔LINK IN BIO

A friend recently shared that they have become such a believer in the art of saying no, and eliminating almost everything that isn't an absolute "hell yes!"..Upon reflection, I told him I suppose that was subconsciously part of my decision for this current experience. I just have such a desire to fully live, to experience everything offered and not wait for the perfect moment or retirement. While at @openroadsfest , I met a lot of nomadic souls and it was really inspiring to see so many ppl saying 'to hell with societal norms'. I don't want to be someone who counts down to the weekend or my annual vacation. So I took a leap of faith and bought this van and hit the road 3 weeks ago. 7 states, 5K miles and so much more to discover. {7.9.19}..........#grandtetonnationalpark #grandtetons #tetons #nps #nationalparks #nationalpark #nationalparksusa #nationalparks #wyoming #discover_wyoming #findyourpark #visitwyoming #thatswy #exploreeverywhere #adventureseekers #sheadventures #wyominglife #jacksonhole #adventure #sheexplores #livefortoday #lifeoutside #dessertadventures #dontwaitforretirement #homeishere #homeiswhereweparkit #boondocking

I enjoyed (and definitely needed) the time I spent off-the-grid in nature these past few days, but to be honest it made me mad as hell too.Not once in the materials that Grand Teton NP provided did it mention the peoples that call this area their homelands: the Shoshone-Bannock, Eastern Shoshone, and the Cheyenne, with the Apsaalooké (Crow) as a close neighbor. None of the interpretative signs I saw and nothing in the Colter Bay Visitor Center said a word. The only indigenous presence was when I would see the Teton range labeled, with one mountain named Teewinot Mountain, which I learned after a quick google search, derives from a Shoshone word meaning, "many pinnacles.".As someone who has worked as an interpretive park ranger for the NPS, and who is just generally aware of the world we live in, I'm not surprised, but I'm like...it's fucking 2019 - Y'ALL KNOW YOU NEED TO FUCKING DO BETTER. I read all about the white men who later claimed this area as their own, how the valley was known as a "bachelor valley" until the Mormons moved in, and you can *still* see their presence throughout the park, but the people who were pushed out, segregated and forced into reservations, who actually know the land and its history, they weren't even a thought.I brought this up to one of the few rangers I saw at the park, knowing all too well that the rangers you see in the park don't have much power, but she agreed with me and said that our conversation made her want to do more, to speak up more, and to bring this white-washed colonial bullshit to light (but maybe not in those exact terms lol), and so I hope that she does and that her actions encourage her coworkers and even her bosses to do more to decolonize the park too.So if you see something, or the absence of something, SPEAK UP. We can make a better world, but we have to do the work. #decolonizethisplace

Mail Carrier’s Cabin:: Yellowstone National Park.🥰 “When Alden Roseborough accepted the Mail Carrier’s position in 1895, a long and rugged road awaited. The route- 100 miles round trip- took him from Mammoth Hot Springs through remote northern Yellowstone National Park to Cooke City (Montana), an isolated mining town in the Absaroka Mountains. He carried precious threads of communication between Cooke City and the outside world. To facilitate regular journeys, Mr. Roseborough leased two cabins along the route. He also erected this cabin and became it’s first occupant. The dwelling served as an employee residence for more than a century.” Quoted info from the plaque out front. #oldhouselove #archi_ologie #curbed #cabin #logcabin #iloveoldbuildings #thecabinchronicles #10ktcc #historygeek #accidentallywesanderson #mailcarrier #usps #ynp #mytinyatlas #hellofrom #yellowstone #fortyellowstone #mammothhotsprings #mammothwyoming #yellowstonenps #montana #yellowstonenationalpark #visitwyoming #wyoming

United States Post Office:: Yellowstone National Park, built in 1936. Doesn’t exactly match the style of Fort Yellowstone at all... but I guess it’s a standardized US Post Office design from that era. Plus bears.🐻Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. #thepostalproject #archi_ologie #curbed #unitedstatespostoffice #iloveoldbuildings #nrhp #fortyellowstone #ynp #historicdistrict #mammothhotsprings #mammoth #mammothwyoming #yellowstone #yellowstonenps #yellowstonenationalpark #visitwyoming
